Inspired by a love of good quality, authentic Canadian food, Al’s Deli was first established by Aleks Lazic in 2012. After his move to Auckland left him pining for the traditional Montreal cuisine he had grown up with, he decided that the best way to honour his hometown was to direct his energy into sharing it with others. And so he did.
Fast forward four years and Gabriel Cote, a Canadian ex-pat living in Nelson, discovered Al’s Deli during his quest to introduce some authentic Montreal goodness to the region. “Aleks was delivering exactly what I was looking for and I knew exactly what he was trying to achieve”. With Aleks’ help, Gab has finally been able to bring his vision to life with Al’s Deli Nelson opening soon! Oh yea!
With a team who are just as enthusiastic about authentic Canadian cuisine as the original founder, Al’s Deli Nelson aims to provide you with a fun, yet traditional Canadian dining experience. You won’t want to miss out on our delicious hand-made bagels, big juicy burgers, craft beer and the most gigantic moose ear donuts you can get your hands on! Oh, and of course, we haven’t forgotten the staple dish of Canada – poutine!
Not only do we serve up incredible food, but our staff have some pretty good banter too! And, we even have a jukebox for you to have a jam on. So, if you’re looking for a good time, you know where to find us eh!
